How it all began
It all began in the autumn of 2018 at university. Fate (and a group project) brought them together, and working side by side not only helped Nick pass the course but also sparked the beginning of something much bigger. They quickly realized: we are a pretty good team!
Not long after, they started dating, and even a year of long distance couldn’t keep them apart. Christy spent half a year as an intern in the Dominican Republic and the other half studying in Laredo, Texas. Nick had his own adventures interning in Germany and then San Francisco, California. Despite the miles between them, their bond only grew stronger.
When their studies wrapped up, life took them in different but complementary directions. Nick continued his academic journey in Tilburg, while Christy began climbing the career ladder at Nouryon (which later became Nobian). Eventually, they moved in together in Arnhem, where in autumn 2021 their little family grew with the arrival of Dexter. Some might call him a “Corona dog,” but to them, he was simply the inevitable addition to their lives.
Then, in September 2024, during a road trip to Italy, came the moment that changed everything. Nick dropped to one knee (with the ring box upside down, of course) and asked Christy the biggest question of his life. Without hesitation, she said “yes”—the clearest, happiest yes. It was the perfect day, and the start of their forever.
